Stoney Chen, CEO (MBA, MMOR, BASc)
Stoney Chen brings valuable skills from his multi-disciplinary background in applied science, operations and business administration to his role as CEO of Viva. He has an occupational background in advanced operations efficiency modeling, project management, consulting and real estate development and investment. As an alumnus of one of the top ten MBA programs in the world, Stoney has an extensive network to draw upon, as well as top tier business management skills. From supervising our talented team of aquaculture professionals to brainstorming new directions for the company, Stoney’s passion for management and business shines through all aspects of his role at Viva. Stoney’s goal is to continue to expand the company by exploring innovative business opportunities and strategic partnerships.
Anderson Lee, CMO
Anderson Lee has a vast background in multiple facets of the international and local seafood industry. He formerly owned and operated Ocean Run Seafood Canada, a prominent seafood wholesale and distribution business based in Vancouver, B.C. Anderson’s many endeavours allowed him to foresee the potential of, and the rapid growth in, the seafood market, particularly in North America. With nearly 10 years of experience in the seafood sector, Anderson is a driving force behind Viva’s growth and development within the trade market and seafood industry.
Jesse Ronquillo, Aquaculture Scientist (Ph.D., M.Sc., B.Sc.)
Dr. Jesse Ronquillo, a multi-award winning aquaculture scientist, has developed several important technologies that have improved aquaculture production worldwide. His expertise includes the aquaculture production of species such as fish, mollusks, crustaceans, echinoderms and algae. He received a B.Sc. in fisheries and aquaculture, graduating at the head of his class. He obtained his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Japan as a Monbusho Scholar and has been awarded JSPS, Fulbright, NSERC and UNESCO fellowships. Dr. Ronquillo has been a fish farmer, consultant and trainer of aquaculturists in different countries. He has taught aquaculture courses in several universities in Asia and North America and is currently affiliated with the University of British Columbia.
Chang Lin Ye, Site Manager (M.Sc., B.Sc.)
Chang Lin Ye spent five years studying aquaculture and performing fish nutrition research at Dalhousie University. He has specialized knowledge concerning all aspects of fish, especially with regards to fish nutrition and feed formulation. He has even been involved in a scientific research project that developed new plant ingredients for aqua-feed. Chang Lin also has many years of practical fish raising experience in Canada, both in flow-through and recirculating systems. Our young fish expert is an enthusiastic member of our aquaculture team and is always willing to use his scientific knowledge and experience to help Viva provide quality seafood to our consumers.
Kai Chen, Aquatic Products Manager (B.Sc.)
Kai Chen graduated from Dalhousie University with a major in aquaculture. During his undergraduate studies, he gained experience in fish physiology, fish health and fish nutrition, which provided him with crucial knowledge regarding fish composition, organ functions and how to prevent pathogens that affect fish health. Kai has also had experience in managing the processes required to rear fish and in making and analyzing the digestibility of feed. Kai’s education and practical experience makes him a valuable part of our aquaculture team.
In addition to these talented individuals, we have a cohesive team assisting with the day to day operations of our facility.
